Meet our 3MT Finalists: Ana-Marija Nedic

Ana-Marija Nedic has been working toward a graduate degree in Physics at Iowa State since 2017. Her 3MT presentation is titled "A Quest for New Magnetic Properties in Materials." Learn more about Ana-Marija below.

Q: What brought you to Iowa State?

Nedic

A: I came to Iowa State because of the great opportunities for research, due to a big Physics and Astronomy Department and its affiliation with Ames Lab, one of 17 National Labs.

Q: Describe your research in three sentences or less.

A: Tuning magnetic properties and searching for new phenomena in novel materials with strong interatomic interactions, and perspective for future technological application.

Q: What do you hope to gain from Three Minute Thesis?

A: It challenged me to finally try to explain to my family what I do for my research.

Q: Share a fun fact about yourself.

A: My native language is Pannonian Rusyn from the East Slavic group of languages, with only about 20,000 native speakers.
