Meet our 3MT Finalists: Ramya Srinivasan

Ramya Srinivasan is a third-year graduate student in Aerospace Engineering. Her 3MT presentation is titled "Cooling of Football Helmets." Learn more about Ramya below.
Q: What brought you to Iowa State?
Srinivasan
A: The College of Engineering has consistently been ranked among the top engineering schools and ISU provides best resources for students in conducting great research. I also love Iowa State's campus.
Q: Describe your research in three sentences or less.
A: My research focuses on cooling the football helmets using special cooling materials attached to the interior of the helmet in a specific pattern and thereby reducing heat-related illnesses for football players.
Q: What do you hope to gain from Three Minute Thesis?
A: My preparations for the Three Minute Thesis helped me to easily explain my research to non-experts in a way they understand. I hope to improve my public speaking skills.
Q: Share a fun fact about yourself.
A: I love dance, travel and photography.
